I forgot! I meant to tell you some things about my travels. In total I will be gone from Springfield for 53 days. I will have traveled 5,208 miles in Johnny Freedom Kar (JFK) and ate my fair share or taco bell to go.
Wow, ambitious road trip plan. Way to show those high gas prices you aren't afraid. I've often thought about doing something like this, but clearly you have the balls, not I.
One small thing I found troubling is that you are driving from SD to SF and then SF to Oregon without spending any time on the Pacific Coast Highway... I think if it is a clear day you wouldn't regret the decision to take a little longer driving the coast instead of sticking to the interstates... which I remember from my travels in CA being fairly unscenic and boring for the length of the state.
It's your trip though and much congratulations for doing it. I'll be checking this out a lot throughout the summer to see what crazy tales you tell. Walken told me to tell you "ehh... 's a good idea... he, should! have a good time..."
Andrew, I plan on taking sidetrips along the California 101 and also in oregon. I only do about 6.5 hours of driving in a day, so I have extra time to do just that.
I hope your road trip is amazing, my only suggestion is a visit to Huntington Beach, CA to visit moi! I will check your blog often, good luck to you and happy trails :)
All I have to say is nice choice of profile pics...I took it. While quite poisoned. Actually, I have no rememberance of taking it so someone else may have taken it on my camera...never the less. I'm glad your gone. Be safe. And are you traveling alone? I've watching Cold Case Files in which lonley travelers fell prey to crazy serial killers. Just a thought. Maybe you could carry a concealed weapon? A wooden chair, perhaps.
